Representation Review Final Proposal

Proposed constituencies with existing TLAs

Northland Regional Council is currently reviewing the way in which the community selects its representatives – your regional councillors.

The review looks at how many councillors there need to be on the regional council, where the boundaries are for the areas (or constituencies) each councillor will be elected from, how many councillors will be elected from each constituency and what the names of these constituencies will be.

The council invited public submissions on its initial proposal over a one month period ending in October 2012.  Following the consideration of all submissions, the council amended the initial proposal and adopted a final proposal to divide the Northland region into seven constituencies to be represented by nine regional councillors for the 2013 elections.
